3) Amit Mishra
The veteran leg-spinner was one of the stars of the Indian Premier League at one point. His numbers before age took over speak for themselves. In 154 matches, he has been able to scalp 173 wickets at a great economy of just over 7 runs per over. Throughout his glorious IPL career, he has been able to take four four-fers and one fifer.
However, everyone must have forgotten that he had missed out on the IPL. Before the IPL 2023, he last played an IPL game in 2021. It was only due to the impact player rule, he was able to find a place in the squad for an IPL franchise. Lucknow Super Giants splashed the cash on Mishra and bought him for base price. The leg-spinner delivered as he was able to scalp seven wickets across seven matches.
2) Ishant Sharma
Ishant did not participate in the 2022 IPL season after playing just four games during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. The Team India pacer has only participated in ten IPL games in a single season (2019) since the 2014 edition. Ishant participated in eight matches the last time around with the Delhi Capitals and claimed 10 wickets with an economy of 8.24.
Ishant has participated in 101 IPL games, taking 83 wickets with an economy of 8.11 and recording one five-wicket haul. He has benefited from the impact player rule, which allows him to bowl his allotted four overs before leaving the pitch. Because of this, he may usually be available for his side regularly.
1) Piyush Chawla
In the IPL 2022 auction, seasoned leg-spinner Piyush Chawla was not able to get a bid. It appeared as though the IPL journey was coming to an end for him. However, the Mumbai Indians had different plans, as they purchased him for his starting price of Rs 50 lakh at the mini-auction. The 34-year-old had established himself as the spearhead of an attack including some of the top players in cricket history.
In the 2020 and 2021 IPL seasons, Piyush Chawla took just 7 wickets, but he found newfound success. However, it was totally an opposite season for Chawla in 2023. He was able to be in the top five wicket takers of the tournament last year. The leg-spinner scalped 22 wickets after 16 matches at an economy of just over 8.
