‘Long distance relationship’ – Fans react as Cameron Green separates himself from teammates in 2nd Test against West Indies after positive COVID-19 result
Cameron Green has been taking part in the 2nd Test against the West Indies despite having tested positive for COVID-19. The Australian All-Rounder was reported to have tested positive before the 2nd Test at Brisbane. During the national anthem session, Green was seen separating himself from the rest of his teammates as he tested positive for COVID-19. But Green will be in action in the 2nd Test.
It is the pink-ball Test match at the Gabba between Australia and the West Indies. Australia has never lost a D/N Test match to date. For the Windies, it would be a good opportunity to create history by becoming the first team to beat Australia in the pink-ball Test match. The home side though, has been in good control in the match. They managed to get an early breakthrough.
Australia bowled well in the first hour. The duo of Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc got the ball to swing. They got some extra bounce and ensured that the batters were challenged. It meant that the WI skipper was dismissed early in the innings. The duo of Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Kirk McKenzie have steadied the innings of the visiting side since then.
Outburst of Covid in recent times
In the last couple of weeks, there have been many cases registered in the Cricket dressing rooms. Most of them have come out from the Australian dressing room. Both the coaching staff and the players in the dressing room have tested positive for COVID-19. Even from New Zealand, a case has been registered for having tested positive for COVID-19 in the series against Pakistan.
From Australia, two key players have tested positive in recent times. The duo of Travis Head and Green have tested positive from the Australian dressing room. Likewise, Australian head coach Andrew McDonald has also been suffering from Covid. From NZ, Mitchell Santner tested positive for COVID-19 in the ongoing wave. The teams would be wary of the challenge to stop the spread of the virus.
