Women's Premier League 2024
‘Ye toh keh ke leli’ – Fans react as Alex Hartley trolls teammate Kate Cross after getting signed by RCB during WPL Auctions 2024
Kate Cross was signed by the Smriti-Mandhana led franchise for INR 30 Lakh.
Kate Cross was acquired by the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the WPL 2024 auction. This led to Kate Cross and Alex Hartley’s amicable banter reaching new heights on Saturday. Kate Cross, the England seamer, was signed by RCB for ?30 lakh, and she will play for the team in the upcoming Indian WPL season.
Cross is an ardent supporter of the Chennai Super Kings and shares many photos donning the team’s iconic yellow shirt. However, in the second season, the pacer will play for the Bengaluru-based franchise. This means she will have to abandon her allegiance to that city.
Her friend, Hartley, an RCB supporter in the men’s IPL, used the occasion to make fun of Cross for moving from Chennai to Bangalore. To make fun of her soon-to-be teammate, she shared a photoshopped image of Cross destroying the CSK shirt while sporting the RCB stripes on social media.
It is essential to remember that RCB had a forgettable season in 2023. Out of eight games in the competition, the Smriti Mandhana-led team was able to win only two. They went onto lose the other six, effectively eliminating them from the league’s group stages.
