‘Bas ek aur IPL khel le ye’ – Fans react as MS Dhoni was seen limping off during his visit to his paternal native village in Uttarakhand

The former skipper of the Indian cricket team, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was recently spotted visiting his ancestral home in the Lawali village of Almora, Uttarakhand, on Wednesday. Accompanied by his wife, Sakshi Dhoni, Dhoni made this visit nearly two decades after his last trip to the ancestral place in 2004. Dhoni, who announced his retirement from international cricket in August 2020, took the opportunity to reconnect with his roots and explore his family’s heritage in Uttarakhand.

Among all the photos and videos which are surfacing on the internet about the legendary cricketer’s visit, there was also a video which sparked a sense of concern in the minds of all Dhoni fans. In the video, the former India wicketkeeper batter was seen limping while getting down from a house on stairs. The video clearly shows that Dhoni is still recovering from his knee surgery which happened after IPL 2023.

Dhoni underwent a successful left knee surgery in a Mumbai hospital on Thursday. This development has sparked optimism regarding his potential participation in the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League next year. Dhoni, who guided the Chennai Super Kings to their fifth IPL title, travelled from Ahmedabad to Mumbai after the final on Monday. He sought consultation with renowned sports orthopaedic surgeon Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala, a member of the medical panel who has previously performed surgeries on several top Indian cricketers, including Rishabh Pant.

Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni were not invited to ODI World Cup 2023 final

In the ODI World Cup 2023 final at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium, Rohit Sharma’s Indian team faced a six-wicket defeat against Australia, defending a total of 240 runs. Despite expectations of appearances by former World Cup-winning captains Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni, neither attended. Dhoni, holidaying with family in Uttarakhand, missed the event. Kapil Dev clarified that the Indian Cricket Board didn’t extend an invitation for the World Cup 2023 Finals. The absence of these cricketing legends added an unexpected twist to the star-studded event attended by dignitaries, celebrities, and PM Narendra Modi.

“I wasn’t invited. They didn’t call me so I did not go. As simple as that. I wanted the whole ’83 team to be there with me but I guess due to the fact that it’s such a big event and people are so busy handling responsibilities, sometimes they forget,” Kapil Dev said on ABP News.
