‘Piss poor cricket from piss poor teams’ – Fans bored after Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Delhi Capitals ends up being low-scoring affair
Both teams, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals were desperate for a win given their situation in the tournament
In the 34th game of the ongoing IPL 2023, bottom places, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals took on each other. Ahead of the game, the home team, SRH was coming off two back-to-back losses. On the other hand, the 2020 finalists, DC won their first game of the season against Kolkata Knight Riders last week. Meanwhile, in the game, the Capitals won the toss and elected to bat first on a slow surface.
They had a poor start as Phil Salt bagged a golden duck. However, the likes of skipper David Warner and Mitchell Marsh showed some urgency with the former batting at a quick strike rate. When it looked like the right-hander, Marsh would go on to score big, he got trapped for lbw by T Natarajan. In the eighth over, Washington Sundar took three wickets to put SRH on the back foot.
However, the likes of Axar Patel (34) and Manish Pandey (34) put together 69 runs for the sixth wicket. This partnership helped the team reach a respectable total of 144/9 at the end of the innings.
Sunrisers Hyderabad failed to chase down a modest total
In reply, the 2016 winners got off to a mixed start as Mayank Agarwal found a rhythm with the bat. On the other hand, Harry Brook failed to put the bat on the ball. After scoring a painful seven off 14 balls, he was cleaned up by Anrich Nortje. After this wicket, Agarwal also slowed down with the ball not coming onto the bat nicely.
The discarded India opener scored 49 off 39 balls before getting out to Axar Patel. Rahul Tripathi also played slowly as he managed only 15 off 21 balls. At one stage, the team lost five wickets for 85 runs, including the wicket of Aiden Markram. At this stage, the likes of Washington Sundar and Heinrich Klassen took the game close. However, they failed to do after the wicket of the latter. They ended up losing the game by seven runs.

Back to back wins after 5 consecutive defeats for DC.Brilliant last over from Mukesh.SRH can only blame themselves demoting Abhishek sharma down the order.

First time in 16 seasons of IPL Delhi Daredevils/Capitals have successfully defended a first innings total under 150. Among the eight original sides & SRH, they were the only side not to do so yet.#SRHvDC

This will mean a lot for @DelhiCapitals they clearly aren’t at their best but have now won 2. @davidwarner31 will believe they can get better and against SRH a win is special for him by a country mile. Excellent last over from Mukesh. #SRHvsDC

Cracker last over by Mukesh, conceded just 5. But how bad are SRH to lose to DC. #SRHvDC

Strange running from Sundar and Jansen. Could've at least given themselves a chance at taking this into the Super over with a 2 there. #SRHvsDC

SRH’s top-5 batsmen vs DC today:
Mayank Agarwal – 49 (39), 7 boundaries
Other four batters – 30 (45), 0 boundaries #SRHvDC pic.twitter.com/qBKgd54A3b— Bharath Seervi (@SeerviBharath) April 24, 2023
Yet again, a side is in trouble because they dropped behind the asking rate in a relatively modest run-chase. Fascinating to see Axar and, especially Kuldeep, use this sluggish surface. Now #SRH need to attack pace to come home.

Amazing comeback by @DelhiCapitals after their batting collapse to defeat #SRH at their home. Brilliant last over by #Mukesh. Well batted @Sundarwashi5 #IPL2023

Bowl according to your field – What better example than the last over from Mukesh – A boundary rider short and he nails it.. This will surely give @DelhiCapitals the hope to strike back.. If the batters join the party – They’re the team we’ve known the last few years #SRHvDC
