The Indian Premier League completed its 15 years on April 18, 2023. Since its inception, IPL has been one of the most popular sporting leagues in the world. It is the second most valuable and most watched sports league in the world. Things that made IPL the historic and amazing league are the top-notch performances of teams and players. Today, in this article, we will name the top five unbreakable records set in Indian Premier League.

#5 Alzarri Joseph’s best bowling figure (6/12 vs SRH)

Young Caribbean pacer Alzarri Joseph holds the record for the best bowling figures in an IPL game. In 2019, he ripped through the Sunrisers Hyderabad batting lineup in a low-scoring encounter, taking 6 wickets for 12 runs. While batting first, the Mumbai Indians had set a target of 137 runs for the SRH, which appeared to be well within reach of their quality batting line-up.

However, SRH were unable to withstand Alzarri Joseph’s consistent wickets and were bundled out for 96 runs, losing the match by 40 runs. Earlier, Pakistani pacer Sohail Tanvir had held the record for 11 years. Tanvir had 6/14 against Chennai Super Kings in the inaugural season while playing for Rajasthan Royals.

#4 Kolkata Knight Riders’ 10 consecutive victories

The two-time champions, Kolkata Knight Riders hold the record for the most consecutive victories in the Indian Premier League. During the 2014-15 season, the Knight Riders won ten consecutive games. Their winning streak began after a disastrous start to their 2014 campaign, which saw Gautam Gambhir’s team lose 5 of their first 7 games.

The rampage began on May 7, 2014, with an eight-wicket victory over the Delhi Capitals. Following that, KKR went from match to match and eventually won the IPL trophy for the second time. KKR began their 2015 season where they left off in 2014, defeating the Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets at the Eden Gardens. Although, their dominance ended as they were defeated by RCB by 3 wickets in their next game.

#3 Amit Mishra’s hat-trick of Hat-tricks

Ace India spinner Amit Mishra has been one of the most reliable cricketers in the history of the Indian Premier League. He made his debut in IPL in 2008 and was an important member of the Delhi Capitals team. In his IPL career, he has taken 157 wickets overall.

Amit Mishra holds the record for scoring the most hat tricks in IPL history. He has so far scored a hat-trick for each Sunrisers Hyderabad, Deccan Chargers, and Delhi Daredevils. He is followed by Yuvraj Singh, who has clinched two hat tricks. Notably, Rohit Sharma is the only player who has scored a century and a hat-trick in IPL.

Star India batter Virat Kohli has been one of the greatest batsmen in the modern era. He has hammered various memorable innings and has curated plenty of records to his name. However, in IPL 2016, the world witnessed a Masterclass from a senior Indian batter. In 16 games of the IPL 2016 season, he scored a record 973 runs, including four centuries.

Nobody had ever demonstrated such domination with the bat in the IPL before him. He also scored 4 tons in that season, which is also a record. He aided RCB in getting to the championship game, but SRH played the spoiler, preventing him from taking home the trophy. Notably, star England batter Jos Buttler holds the second position with 863 runs.

#1 Chris Gayle’s unbeaten 175 vs Pune in 2013

In a 20-over game, it would be amazing to watch when a player score more than 150 runs alone. At Bangalore’s M Chinnaswamy stadium during the 2013 IPL, Chris Gayle struck an unbeaten 175 runs for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Pune Warriors India. In his innings, Gayle hammered 17 sixes and 13 boundaries and helped RCB to post a massive total of 263/5 in 20 overs.

Gayle, along with Tilakaratne Dilshan, added 167 runs for the first wicket, to which Dilshan contributed with just 33 runs off 36 balls. Apart from Gayle, De Villiers also hammered 31 runs off just 8 balls as Pune were thrashed by 130 runs. Steve Smith was the highest run-getter for Pune as he scored 41 runs off 31 balls.
