‘Pappu pass ho gaya’ – Fans react to Jasprit Bumrah’s successful back surgery update in New Zealand
Jasprit Bumrah will have a 24-week recovery period and will miss out on the upcoming Asia Cup
Jasprit Bumrah, team India’s star pacer, had back surgery in Christchurch, New Zealand. Bumrah, who has been sidelined since September 2022 because of a back problem, was expected to rejoin the national team a few times this year. But, the severity of the ailment was more than initially thought, necessitating surgery. According to sources, Bumrah underwent a successful procedure, but the rehabilitation period will prevent him from playing cricket for at least six months.
According to reports, Bumrah won’t likely play any cricket until August. Therefore the Asia Cup 2023 is out of the question for him. There is a slim chance that he will be fully prepared before the 50-Over Cricket World Cup in 2023. Dr Rowan Schouten, a renowned orthopaedic surgeon affiliated with the Forte Orthopaedics Hospital in Christchurch, has previously treated a few athletes, including James Pattinson, Jason Behrendorff, and Jofra Archer, was catering to Bumrah in New Zealand.
Jasprit Bumrah has been sidelined since July 2022
The hospital representative, however, declined to comment on the subject. The Cricket Board of India should be contacted with any questions surrounding Jasprit Bumrah; the official was quoted as saying.
In July’s second ODI match against England, Bumrah strained his back and hasn’t played much since. He took a break after the August West Indies series before being disqualified from the 2022 Asia Cup. In September, he returned during the T20I series against Australia, but the injury worsened and kept him out of the rest of the year’s play, including the coveted 20-20 World Cup.
Bumrah unexpectedly made the ODI team for the Sri Lanka series in January 2023 before being eliminated once more. As he wasn’t picked in the squads for the upcoming white-ball series against Australia, it was reported that Bumrah would undergo a surgery on his back. After having his back operated on, Bumrah will likely experience a swift recovery and an even quicker comeback. However, his 24-week recovery period paints a slightly different picture now, with the pacer surely out of the upcoming Asia Cup.
