Indian T20 League 2022: Match 19 – Kolkata vs Delhi – Preview, Playing XIs, Pitch Report, Updates
Kolkata and Delhi will lock horns with each other in the 19th match of the Indian T20 League 2022 on Sunday at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The two teams have had contrasting fortunes so far in the tournament.
Kolkata have managed to win three games out of four and thus are sitting at the top of the points table. Delhi, on the other hand, have only a solitary win in three games. They would look to get back to winning ways.
Team News:
Kolkata:Â
Kolkata are having a dream run in the ongoing Indian T20 League 2022 tournament. Shreyas Iyer and Co. are coming into this game on the back of a sensational 5-wicket over Mumbai. Pat Cummins played, arguably, the best knock of his T20 career as his 15-ball 56 helped the team chase down a 161-run target in just 16 overs. Kolkata would be looking to continue the winning momentum and are unlikely to make any changes in the playing XI.
Players to watch out for:
- Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer is yet to find consistency in the tournament. He scored 10 runs off 6 balls in the last game, failing to convert a start into another big score. The upcoming match against Delhi is an important one for Kolkata and the team would be wanting the skipper to step up with the bat.
- Venkatesh Iyer
Venkatesh Iyer hit his first half-century this season in the last game against Mumbai. That would have given him a lot of confidence and you can expect him to continue his good form heading into the next game on Sunday. He will be key to Kolkata’s fortune against Delhi.
- Pat Cummins
After playing an unbelievable knock of 56 runs in 15 balls in the last game, Pat Cummins would be brimming with confidence. Cummins proved expensive with the ball the other night but you expect him to bounce back strongly. He will be the one to watch out for.
Probable Playing XI:
Venkatesh Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer (Captain), Sam Billings (Wk), Nitish Rana, Andre Russell, Pat Cummins, Sunil Narine, Rasikh Salam, Umesh Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy
Delhi:
Delhi wouldn’t be too happy with how they have performed thus far in the tournament. They have played three games but have only managed to win one. Despite Prithvi Shaw giving them a stellar start, Delhi could only manage 149 runs in the first innings.
Warner scored 4 runs in 12 balls, while Pant consumed 39 balls to score 36 runs. Later, Anrich Nortje conceded 35 runs in just 2.2 overs. Heading into the next game, Delhi would be looking to improve in all departments of the game.
Players to watch out for:
- Prithvi Shaw
Prithvi Shaw gave the team a sensational start in the last game. He played aggressively right from the onset of his innings, scoring 61 runs in 34 balls. The important thing is that he should continue with those performances going ahead in the tournament.
- Rishabh Pant
Given how the team has fared so far, Rishabh Pant has to take responsibility on his shoulders and play with a lot more intent and take the team to a winning total. He will hold key to the team’s fortune for the game on Sunday.
- David Warner:
Playing his first game in the Indian T20 League 2022, David Warner struggled to hit the straps. He scored just 4 runs in 12 balls at a strike rate of 33.33. Warner is one of the most destructive hitters of the cricket ball and you don’t expect him not to bounce back strongly.
Probable Playing XIs:
Prithvi Shaw, David Warner, Mitchell Marsh/Rovman Powell, Rishabh Pant (c & wk), Sarfaraz Khan, Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Mustafizur Rahman, Anrich Nortje

Pitch Report:
The 19th match of the Indian T20 League 2022 is scheduled to be played between Kolkata and Delhi at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday. The 16th match between Punjab and Gujarat also took place here. It was a high-scoring total. Once again, you could see both teams notching big totals on the board. Given the fact that it will be a day game, you don’t expect the due to have an impact in the game.
