Indian Cricket team has landed in Australia ahead of the 20-20 World Cup to get acclimatised to the conditions for the mega event. The entire squad is practising hard to get their game ready for the big event. Indian Cricket Board also shared a glimpse of the team’s practice session with the batting, bowling and fielding coach.

In the video, players are seen sweating it out on the field adapting their game to the conditions of Australia. All three coaches also gave an insight into the practice sessions they got the players to go through to get used to the pace and bounce of Australia.

“The focus was on fully about getting used to the conditions. We all knew that conditions in Australia are going to be different. Especially the pace and bounce is different from Indian surfaces. So Idea of coming here earlier and to spend some time practicing here was to get used to these conditions and get used to these pace and bounce. The Boys have really worked hard and I think everybody has got some volumes in,” Vikram Rathour, batting coach said.

“I think the bounce out here in Australia is totally different to what the last few games we played out here. So that gives a great opportunity to the bowlers to kind of acclimatise to the conditions, to the bounce of the wicket. Hitting those lengths and what are their individual lengths they would want to hit,” Paras Mhambrey, bowling coach.

Fielding coach Dilip T shared the difficulties fielders might get while catching the ball and got them used to the lateral movement and the ball wobbling in the air.

“On Day one, all we wanted to achieve was throwing intensity little spiking up and also little catches of volume. And the most important factor is moving laterally a bit. So that was at a shorter distance for a lesser time. On Day two, I think what we wanted to achieve in these open grounds we could observe that wind becomes a factor. So, we did some high catches with the softball so that it wobbles a bit so it gives a player a fair idea. And also finished off with the cricket ball also so that they get a real picture of what exactly is happening,” Dilip T, fielding coach said.

After beginning their practice in Perth, team India will move to Brisbane to take on Australia and New Zealand in warm-up matches. The Men in Blue will start their world cup campaign with a game against arch-rivals Pakistan on 23rd October at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
