Chris Gayle predicts finalists for the upcoming 20-20 World Cup in Australia

The 20-20 World Cup is just six days away as 16 teams prepare themselves to go against each other to fight for ultimate T20 glory. With the T20 fever sweeping over the entire world, former West Indian Cricketer Chris Gayle has named his two finalists of the tournament. Gayle has picked West Indies and Australia to feature in the final of the T20 extravaganza on 13th November at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

“I think there could be a final match between West Indies and Australia. It will be very difficult for the West Indies team as the captain of the team is new and there is no Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, and Bravo in the team,” said Gayle.

“Yes, it is definitely that the players who are included in the West Indies team are talented and can prove to be dangerous for any team. As everyone knows it is just a matter of adapting your strategy in the right way on match day. I hope the team plays well,” he added.

West Indies will start their campaign with the qualifier stage

West Indies will begin their captain in the qualifier stage where they’re placed in Group B along with Scotland, Ireland and Zimbabwe. The top two teams from each group will further qualify to the Super 12s stage.

Gayle has been a part of two 20-20 World Cup winning campaigns under the leadership of Darren Sammy. West Indies won the coveted trophy in the years 2012 and 2016 respectively.

The southpaw is the second-highest run scorer in the history of the 20-20 World Cup. He has 965 runs in 31 innings at an average of 34 and a strike rate of 142. He’s also the only batter to score two hundreds in the history of the tournament.

The 43-year-old also holds the record for most sixes in an innings(11) and most sixes in the mega event overall(63). The opener began the tournament in style in its inaugural edition as he played a scintillating knock of 117 off 57 balls in 2007.

Australia, England, India, Pakistan, New Zealand, West Indies, Afghanistan and South Africa are the eight teams for the Super 12s.
