Australia vs West Indies 2022
Watch: Kayle Mayers audacious back-foot punch sails 105 meters over the boundary line
The six has since then gone viral.
West Indies lost the first of two-match T20I series against Australia on 5th October. They however went down fighting as they came very close to winning it.
While the game had many noteworthy moments, one which is getting talked about the most is Kyle Mayers’ humongous six over mid-point. Batting at 19 off 14 in the fourth over, the southpaw nonchalantly hit a back-foot punch that sailed 105 meters over the boundary line off of Cameron Green forcing watchers out of their seats.

Josh Hazlewood led the Australian bowling lineup with three wickets and did not allow West Indies batters to reach a big score. Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins also took two wickets each and helped their team stop an attacking West Indies side to a below-par score.
West Indies however did not let the small total get the better of them and charged an offensive at Australian batters from the word get-go. David Warner (14) and Cameroon Green (14) were dismissed at similar low individual scores. While wickets continued to fall, it was the captain Aaron Finch who took charge of the chase and brought out a solid 58 off 53 at the Carrara Oval.
Wicket-keeper batter Matthew Wade continued his rich vein of form from the India series and remained unbeaten on 39 off 29 and took the home team across the finish line. His match-winning knock included five boundaries. Mitchell Starc was the batter on the other end who oversaw the run chase.
Finch was named the Player of the Match for his match-winning half-century. The two teams will clash again in the second match of the series on 7th October at The Gabba, Brisbane. West Indies will then play one match against Netherlands and Scotland.
