Asia Cup 2023
Shahid Afridi gives his prediction on the winner of India-Pakistan clash in Asia Cup 2022
The clash between India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2022 is one of the most anticipated matches in world cricket at the moment. Amidst the heightened diplomatic tensions between the two neighbours, the two teams facing each other has become a rarity. The wait will finally come to an end when the Asian Giants collide at the Asia Cup 2022 on August 28 at the Dubai International Stadium.
The arch-rivals last met in the T20 World Cup last year where Pakistan thrashed India by 10 wickets. Skipper Babar Azam, Mohammed Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi were the heroes of the win.
Meanwhile, former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi held a Question & Answer session with his followers on Twitter, during which, a fan asked, “Which is the stronger team in the Pakistan Vs India match, and who do you think will win?”. It was expected that the all-rounder would side with the Men in Green but Afridi gave a very diplomatic answer.
“Depends on who makes the least mistakes,” Afridi replied.

Both India and Pakistan have suffered huge setbacks in the build-up to the tournament. The Men in Blue lost pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel due to their respective injuries. Pakistan too will miss the services of their bowling attack’s leader Shaheen Afridi due to injury.
Ace India pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the tournament due to a back injury while Pakistan will also miss the services of Shaheen Afridi who too has been ruled out due to an injury.
In the history of the Asia Cup, the defending champions India have beaten Pakistan eight times while losing five times. The last time when the neighbours faced each other at the tournament was back in 2018 when India crushed Pakistan by 9 wickets.
Notably, India and Pakistan could battle it out three times at the Asia Cup 2022. After their group stage match at the Asia Cup, the teams are expected to clash on September 4 which will see the top two teams of Group A collide. If the teams play well, they can also face each other for the Asia Cup title on September 11.
