England’s fan group ‘Barmy Army’ share a love-hate relationship with the Indian fans. They always find ways to troll Indian players or fans and engage in banter on social media sites. The English fan group was once again seen trolling India as they tweeted ‘1,000 days’ on Friday. The fan group were taking a dig at the Indian star batter Virat Kohli who last scored a hundred 1,000 days before which was in November 2019.

Kohli last reached the three-figure mark in international cricket on 23rd November 2019 during a day-night test against Bangladesh at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The test was also India’s first ever day-night Test match. The Indian captain scored a magnificent 136 in the match as India defeated Bangladesh by an innings and 46 runs. Kohli, who used to score hundreds for fun, has struggled to convert his 50s into hundreds since then.

The star batter finds himself stuck on the 70 international centuries just one short of Ricky Ponting’s tally of 71. Kohli’s form has become an alarming concern for India as there are two major tournaments approaching back-to-back. First being the Asia Cup and then the much-awaited 20-20 world cup in Australia. The fans are desperately waiting for Kohli to come back to old beast mode and rip apart bowling attacks.

The batter has scored 21 half-centuries but failed to convert any of them into a hundred. The 33-year-old has reached the 90s just once during this phase. The former Indian captain has even got some really good deliveries during his rough patch that were responsible for his undoing.

With the world cup just around the corner, Kohli will be eager to bring back his old form and perform in the tournament he’s ruled in two editions. He won the ‘Player of the Tournament’ award in two successive editions in 2014 and 2016.

‘Barmy Army’s sly dig at Kohli’s form didn’t go down well with the Indian fans as they expressed their anger by replying to the fan group. Here are some of the best Tweets in reply to Barmy Army:
