There’s no love lost between the ‘Barmy Army’ and Indian fans as both are seen having a go at each other on social media platforms. The English fan group always try to annoy the Indian fans through their posts and the Indian fans as well, never fail to give savage replies to their posts.

The bitter-sweet relationship between the two was once again on display as the fan group took to Twitter on Thursday to wish the England star opener Jason Roy on his birthday. The Barmy Army took to Twitter and posted a photograph of Jason Roy with the World Cup Trophy and captioned it “Happy Birthday to a man who has redefined opening the batting in white ball cricket. Have a belter @JasonRoy20.”

Within no time, several people began replying to the Tweet as they wished the English Opener Jason Roy but among the wishes were many replies from fans who seemed unhappy with the post. The replies to the Tweet began flooding with people correcting the Barmy Army, saying that it was actually Sanath Jayasuriya, Adam Gilchrist and Virender Sehwag who redefined opening in white-ball cricket.

Jason Roy has been the game-changer for England at the top of the order in recent times. The explosive opener has represented England in 105 ODIs scoring 3940 runs at an average of 40.62, with an excellent strike rate of 106.66 with 10 hundreds and 21 fifties to his name. The opener has also played 61 T20 internationals scoring 1477 runs at an average of 24, with a strike rate of 140.53 with eight fifties to his name. If there’s anyone who can serve as the best example of England’s new brand of cricket post world cup 2015, it’s Roy.

The opener with his tremendous hitting ability starts attacking the opposition right from the word go putting the opposition bowlers under pressure straight away.

Here’s how Twitter reacted to the Barmy Army’s birthday post for the opener:-
