Virat Kohli replies as Suryakumar Yadav's heroics vs Zimbabwe leaves teammates in awe

Suryakumar Yadav has been India’s most reliable middle-order batter of late and the talented batter is the second highest-run-getter for team India in the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022 with 225 runs and stands third in the tournament overall. India faced off against Zimbabwe in their final match of the Super 12 on November 6, Sunday and it was the middle-order batter who stood up for the team yet again. Coming up with his unusual shots as always, Suryakumar gathered 61 runs off just 25 balls at a strike rate of 244.

His quickfire innings helped India put on a mammoth total of 186 runs on the board for a loss of 5 wickets. In return, Zimbabwe succumbed to 115 and fell short of the target by 72 runs. The Indian batter took to his social media accounts to express his delight with the caption “no better feeling”. In awe of his innings, the former team India captain Virat Kohli, who contributed 26 runs in the match on Sunday, replied to his post, “alag level”.

My plan has always been clear: Suryakumar

Further, the Indian batter, who was adjourned as the Player of the Match for his mighty innings, said that he had his plan clear and added that he used to practise those shots in the nets. Moved by the pleasant atmosphere in the team, Suryakumar hoped to make it count in the upcoming semi-final against England on Thursday.

“I think the plan was very clear when me and Hardik were batting together. He said we should take a positive route and we started hitting the ball and never stopped. I think the atmosphere in the team is really nice and so is the build-up towards the knockout, really looking forward to that game. My plan has always been clear,” Suryakumar said in the post-match interview.

“I do the same thing in the nets, I practise the same shots. I bat according to the situation and what the team needs. It feels really good, to be there (number 1 ranked T20I batter). You got to start from zero every time, that’s what I think. It’s good to see people come out, let’s see how it goes in the next game,” he added.
