The movie generated only a single-digit number opening on its first day. According to Sacnilk, the film made ?2.8 crore on its first day. Making the movie one of the weakest openings for any Akshay Kumar starrer film. His last Hindi film OMG 2, minted a double-digit number on the first day by collecting ?10.26 crore. This number was made despite the tough competition of Sunny Deol’s blockbuster Gadar 2.

The film features an excellent ensemble. The cast includes Akshay Kumar, Parineeti Chopra, Kumud Mishra, Pavan Malhotra, Ravi Kishan, Varun Badola, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Rajesh Sharma, Virendra Saxena, Shishir Sharma, Ananth Mahadevan, Jameel Khan, Sudhir Pandey, Bachan Pachera, Mukesh Bhatt and Omkar Das Manikpuri.

Mission Raniganj is helmed by the ace director Tinu Desai. The movie tells the untold real-life saga of Jaswant Singh Gill, who saved 65 miners trapped in a flooded coal mine in West Bengal’s Raniganj in 1989. It is an intriguing story filled with bravery and courage.
