‘Ab ye dikhayega Captaincy’ – Fans react to Mitchell Marsh’s hilarious comments on leading Australia in T20I series against New Zealand with Pat Cummins in squad

Due to his prominence ahead of this year’s World Cup, Australian skipper Mitch Marsh declined to clarify the role that star batsman Steve Smith will play during the T20 opener versus New Zealand.

Travis Head and David Warner are scheduled to begin in the first of the three remaining contests. Earlier today, according to Marsh the top order seems to be as “pretty set.” The captain said he will take up his usual position at number three. However, there are now doubts over Smith’s position because of the rise of Josh Inglis. The latter will start in Matthew Wade’s place, as a consistent run scorer. The strength Glenn Maxwell and Tim David provide to the middle order is also great for the side.

Smith might have three matches to demonstrate that he still belongs in the T20 team. The ODI World Cup champions are aiming to win their third major title for Australia in the US and Caribbean. He missed the most recent series versus the West Indies.

Mitch Marsh said, “You’ll have to find out, we’ll announce our team at the toss,” Marsh said when asked about Maxwell and Smith’s batting roles against NZ. I don’t think everyone is going to play all three games … so certain guys that probably bat in different positions than they have done in the past.”

“Pretty lucky to have somebody like Pat as another leader” : Mitch Marsh

Marsh seems to be the man most likely to lead the bowling attack at the World Cup without being locked down as captain. This gives him influence over a lineup that includes Test skipper Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood. Marsh is aware of how fortunate he is to have Cummins as a leader and as a sounding board.

The Delhi Capitals batter said, “I can’t wait to tell him what to do. I’m normally filling in for his press conferences when he’s had enough, so I’ll get him back at some stage. But I also feel pretty lucky to have somebody like Pat as another leader within our group to fall back on, and the experienced heads we’ve got that will help me in certain times throughout this series.”
