Najam Sethi confirms Pakistan participation

The Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Najam Sethi raised security concerns regarding the scheduled India-Pakistan ODI World Cup match at Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad, which has sparked a big uproar over the “hybrid model” proposed to host Asia Cup matches. The Indian Cricket Board will probably reveal the World Cup schedule after the IPL, but its insiders said the India-Pakistan match will take place at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. Following this, PCB Chairman confirmed that Pakistan is ready to play at the Narendra Modi Stadium through a statement to News24 Sports.

Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Najam Sethi has made an absurd claim about why he believes the BCCI is hesitant to send its team to Pakistan. However, there has been an ongoing dispute between India and Pakistan over the Asia Cup due to India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan for the continental event scheduled for later this year. Sethi reaffirmed that India is wary of falling to Pakistan anywhere, including within its borders.

‘My suspicion is that India is afraid of losing to Pakistan in India’ – Najam Sethi

“The Indian bridge, volleyball, and kabaddi teams have visited Pakistan. So, what’s the problem with the Indian cricket team coming to Pakistan? My suspicion is that India is afraid of losing to Pakistan in India, and India is afraid of losing to Pakistan in Pakistan,” Sethi told the Indian Express.

Earlier, he had opened up on security concerns about playing in Ahmedabad. Sethi, addressing the issue, stated, “When I heard this statement, I smiled and said to myself – ‘this is one way to make sure we don’t come to India’. If you had said Chennai or Kolkata, it might have made sense.” While refraining from delving into the politics behind it, he emphasized that Ahmedabad, as a city, could pose security challenges for the Pakistan team.

Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Sethi refrained from going into details but hinted at a political motive behind the decision, stating, “The less said about that, the better. It certainly gave the impression that this is a red herring being thrown in our way to tell us – ‘hey, we are going to play you in Ahmedabad, and you watch out.’ You know who rules Ahmedabad!”
