‘Aankhe taras gayi thi dekhne ke liye’ – Fans react as Virat Kohli leads RCB against Punjab Kings in absence of Faf du Plessis
Virat Kohli has led RCB for nine consecutive seasons from 2013.
Star India batter Virat Kohli has been phenomenal since his first T20I ton against Afghanistan in Asia Cup 2022. He has scored more than 1500 runs since then and has hammered five centuries. Notably, he continued his red-hot form in the ongoing Indian Premier League. He has already scored three half-centuries in five matches and will be looking to continue his magic. Meanwhile, on Thursday he made a comeback as RCB skipper as Faf du Plessis is not fully fit.
On Thursday, April 20, Virat Kohli once again assumed the captaincy of RCB in their game against PBKS at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. Ahead of the 2022 season, Kohli vacated his position as the captain of the team, and Faf du Plessis was roped in an auction to fill the position. Notably, Kohli has led RCB for nine consecutive seasons since 2013. However, he has failed to win a trophy for his team.
On the other hand, the home team Punjab Kings are also playing without their regular skipper Shikhar Dhawan. Dhawan who is dealing with an injury is yet to recover fully and has missed the game. In absence of Dhawan, star England allrounder Sam Curran is leading his team against RCB.
‘Faf will not field’ – Virat Kohli on Faf Du Plessis’s injury
At the Toss Virat Kohli was quizzed about Faf du Plessis. Kohli informed that Faf suffered a rib injury against CSK and will not be fielding today but will bat as an impact player. He said, “Faf potentially can’t be fielding today, so he’ll be playing as an impact player, switching with Vyshak. We got to do what we wanted, we would have batted first, the pitch could get slow, and some scruff marks will help the bowlers going deep into the game.”
“Taking one game at a time, focusing on our own game, making the most of crunch situations, we haven’t gone that so far in the tournament. No other changes for us” said, Kohli. Kohli and the company will look to get back on the winning track as they are eighth-placed on the points table. The team will look to improve their records to be in the race for playoffs.
