Indian Women’s Cricket team is going to play in the Commonwealth Games in what is going to be a historic moment for cricket and the Commonwealth tournament. This is only the first time Cricket is being included in the prestigious event after 1998. The last time it happened, South Africa won the ODI format defeating Australia in the final.
Things however are different this time around. Not only are the Men’s cricket teams not included but there has been a change in the format as well. The cricket format included in the CWG 2022 will be the T20I.
Indian Women’s cricket team is all set to take on the world’s best and hopefully win gold for the country. Let’s look at five Indian women cricketers to watch out for in the upcoming CWG 2022.
1. Shafali Verma
At just 15 years old, Shafali Verma became the youngest Indian to debut in the T20I format. Since then the Rohtak-born has played 32 T20I matches and scored 753 runs with an average of 25.
The highest score of 73 along with three fifties point to the 18-year-old becoming mature as she plays more games. The CWG 2022 could be the tournament where she takes the big next step as a cricketer.
