Pakistan captain Babar Azam has found his name amongst the records ever since he burst onto the scene in 2015. In his illustrious career of seven years so far, the batter has scored 10,000 runs across all formats. Babar reached the milestone during his magnificent knock of 119 on Day 2 of the first Test against Sri Lanka on Sunday.
The star batter from Pakistan is considered one of the best batters of the modern era across all three formats of the game. With every year passing, Babar has made a habit of scoring runs for fun as he now finds himself on another career milestone. Thanks to his consistent performances with the bat, the right-handed batter has climbed to the no one rank in both ODI and T20I formats of the game and is ranked at fourth position in Test cricket.
The batter has scored 2970 runs in 41 Tests so far averaging 47 with seven hundreds to his name. Babar has 4442 runs in ODI cricket at a stunning average of 59.22 with 17 hundreds. His T20 numbers aren’t too behind with 2686 runs in 69 innings at an average of 45 with one hundred and 26 fifties in his career.
With such magnificent numbers already in his career, Babar is touted as the next ‘big thing’ in international cricket. The batter is set to break many more records in his career in the coming years. The 27-year-old was the leading run-scorer with 303 runs in 6 matches in last year’s 20-20 world cup. He also broke the record for holding the no. one position in T20I batsmen’s rankings for the longest period recently surpassing Indian star batter Virat Kohli who held the position for 1,013 days. The Pakistani star has also held the no. 1 position in ODI rankings for over a year now since he reached the summit last year in April overtaking Kohli.
Fans are in awe of Babar’s marvellous strokeplay every time he walks out to bat as he plays his trademark cover drive. The batter is set to rule cricketing records for a long time with the kind of form he’s in.
