Hyderabad showed no mercy on Arunachal Pradesh bowlers during the 4th round of Indian domestic matches. After bowling out their opponents for just 172 runs, Hyderabad ended the first day with a lead of 357 runs. Tanmay Agarwal etched his name into the history books by scoring the fastest triple ton in Domestic cricket.
The 28-year-old got to the mark in just 147 balls with the help of 20 huge sixes. Skipper GR Singh scored 185 runs off 105 balls with the help of 26 fours and 3 sixes. Team Hyderabad ended the day at 529/1 from 48 overs scoring at 11 runs per over. Abhirath Reddy was batting 19 with Tanmay Agarwal on 323 not out from 160 balls.
Records tumble as Hyderabad’s onslaught leaves Arunachal Pradesh stunned –
Having scored just 172 runs on the board, Arunachal Pradesh bowlers endured misery on the field. 345 runs were added for the first wicket in just 33.1 overs as the Hyderabad openers ran riot. Indian Domestic Cricket saw one of the biggest records being broken with ease on just the first day.
The first hundred came in just 13.3 overs with Tanmay Agarwal and GR Singh going great guns. In what was a baffling effort the next century for the team came in even quicker time. Just 61 balls were needed to go from 100 to 200 and a further 40 to reach the 300 mark. Arunachal Pradesh bowlers seemed to have given up the cause with the ball as runs flowed freely.
It took Hyderabad just 81 balls to go from 300 to 500 runs on the board with Agarwal in great form. During his knock, Tanmay Agarwal recorded the fastest-ever triple century in first-class cricket. Marco Marais was the previous record holder scoring his triple century off just 191 balls. That feat was achieved in 2017 when Marais scored his runs against the Eastern Province.
Tanmay Agarwal has already hit 21 sixes which is yet another record for the most sixes hit. Ishan Kishan with 14 sixes for Jharkhand was the previous holder of this particular accolade.
Another record that Tanmay Agarwal broke was that of the fastest double-century by an Indian in domestic cricket. Ravi Shastri held the previous record as Agarwal got to his double ton in a mere 119 deliveries.
With three more days to go one wonders how much runs Tanmay Agarwal will end up with. Can the youngster break Brian Lara’s 501 run mark? Only time will tell.

Tanmay Agarwal is batting 323 (160 balls, 21 sixes) for Hyderabad against Arunachal Pradesh. Another 40-50 balls tomorrow and he might break Brian Lara’s world record of 501.
Not to take anything away from him but you still need to put this in proper context #RanjiTrophy https://t.co/HKtyFF6XP1— Vikrant Gupta (@vikrantgupta73) January 26, 2024
