The Archies by Zoya Akhtar debuted on Netflix earlier this month to a mixed reception. The film had pulled out a casting coup by signing most of the star kids for their debut film in the Bollywood industry. Actor Manoj Bajapayee has now openly disclosed in an interview with Zoom that he watched the movie for his daughter Ava and told her he didn’t like it.
Manoj Bajpayee stated in a Zoom interview that he told Ava how he felt about The Archies after seeing the first fifty minutes and was shocked to hear that even she didn’t enjoy it. He declared, “I told my daughter that I didn’t like ‘The Archies’ when she was watching it. By the time she said, “Okay,” I had already watched it for fifty minutes. Archies were not a part of my childhood. I spent my formative years with Ram Balram and Motu Patlu. I think I’ve only read one Archies book, but I do remember Betty and Veronica. She did not like it, though.”

The actor went on to say that he had told his daughter that she needed to speak Hindi like the characters in the movie while he was watching ‘The Archies.‘ This did not sit well with Ava, and Manoj disclosed that he received a reprimand for bothering her during the movie.” Manoj went on, that his daughter replied saying, ‘You are not giving family time, papa.’ She reprimands me every time I start berating her.”
The Archies, a coming-of-age musical by Zoya Akhtar, chronicles the lives of seven friends who reside in the made-up hilly town of Riverdale. It was the first time seven new faces in the business made their debut. Suhana Khan, the daughter of Shah Rukh Khan, Khushi Kapoor, the younger daughter of Sridevi, and Agastya Nanda, the grandson of Amitabh Bachchan were among them.
Manoj Bajpayee, meanwhile, last appeared in the Devashish Makhija-directed film Joram, which came out on December 8. In addition, he received outstanding reviews for his performance in the May 23 release of Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai. Prior to that, the actor starred in Gulmohar, which was released in March of this year, with seasoned actor Sharmila Tagore.
