On World Mental Health Day (October 10), the actress got candid about mental health and expressed her take on the same. She reveals what mental health means to her and how it is important for everyone to be aware of its essence.
The actress says, “To me, mental health refers to a condition of emotional and psychological well-being in which I am able to deal with the difficulties of life, feel at peace inside, and keep a good frame of mind about my general mental and emotional state. People frequently put their physical health first by exercising and eating right, but they frequently disregard their mental health. Given their interrelated nature, mental and physical health should receive the same attention as one another.”
Jasmine Bhasin shines a light on mental health:
According to Jasmine, maintaining good mental health may be fostered by engaging in behaviours like self-care. Asking for help when necessary, exercising mindfulness, preserving healthy relationships, and developing a positive outlook. “It’s a combination of emotional, social, and psychological well-being,” she continues.
When asked if she believes that individuals in the entertainment sector are often singled out for depression and anxiety, the actor expresses the same view. She said, “Yes, those who work in the entertainment sector frequently come under more scrutiny and pressure from the general public, which makes them more prone to depression and anxiety. Their mental health may suffer as a result of the continual scrutiny from the public and the pressure to perform. I believe that the entertainment industry may be quite stressful because of things like long hours, erratic schedules, and fierce rivalry. Compared to many other professions, these variables can result in higher levels of stress.”
We then asked her what do you do when you’re having a bad day? She replied, “I make an effort to practise self-compassion on days when I feel down. I reassure myself that having unpleasant days is normal and give myself permission to rest. My spirits are also raised by participating in enjoyable hobbies, speaking with encouraging friends or doing mindfulness exercises. For me, being happy comes from savouring life’s little pleasures, spending quality time with my family and pets, pursuing my passions, and being appreciative of what I have. My pleasure is also greatly influenced by my faith in the benevolence of other people and the universe.”
