The Pakistan Cricket team, led by Babar Azam, made a significant arrival in India on September 27 for the World Cup 2023, marking the first visit in seven years. India is hosting the World Cup this time, and the much-anticipated tournament is scheduled from October 5 to November 19. Upon their arrival at Hyderabad airport, the team received a warm welcome, with enthusiastic crowds cheering for Babar Azam. The event signifies a significant moment in bilateral cricket relations between the two nations and adds excitement to the upcoming World Cup hosted by India.
The Pakistan leg spinner, Shadab Khan was also amused by the hospitality which the team received upon landing on Indian soil. He expressed genuine warmth in acknowledging how the ‘City of Nizams’ welcomed their cricket team with open arms. The Pakistan skipper also wished that if the Indian team comes to Pakistan then they can also replicate the hospitality. Talking about the food, the 24-year-old said that the food was really tasty and he was afraid that the team might put on weight.
“The food has been really tasty and the support staff (all South Africans) are worried that we end up increasing our fat percentage (laughs). Hope, we get the same love in Ahmedabad where we play India (laughs),” said Shadab.
Shadab Khan expressed admiration for Rohit Sharma
The Indian cricket team, boasting stars like Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and Rohit Sharma, anticipates a strong showing in the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023. As Pakistan visits India after seven years, Pakistani all-rounder Shadab Khan acknowledged the formidable star power within the Indian squad.
Specifically praising Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, the star leg spinner also expressed admiration for Rohit’s influential batting prowess and described him as a challenging batsman to bowl against. The statement highlights the anticipation and acknowledgment of the high-caliber players in the Indian team ahead of the World Cup.
“I admire Rohit Sharma a lot and among the leading batsmen in the world, he is the most difficult to bowl to. Once he gets set he becomes very dangerous. Among the bowlers, since I am a leg-spinner, it will be Kuldeep Yadav given his recent form,” Shadab Khan was quoted as saying by Sportskeeda.
