In an absolute carnage game against Magnolia, the Nepal Cricket Team rewrote the history books. In the group game of the Asian Games 2022, Nepal became the first team to score 300+ runs in T20I history. Nepali batter Kushal Malla, skipper Rohit Paudel, and all-rounder Dipendra Singh started with the bat for the South Asian team.
However, the real showstopper was Dipendra Singh, who smacked nine back-to-back sixes to score the fastest-ever half-century in cricket history. He broke Yuvraj Singh’s 16-year-old record by smashing a half-century in just nine balls. His batting performance not only shocked the Mangolian Bowlers but also changed the history of the game.

Apart from him, star batter Kushal Malla also shattered many records. He scored his century in just 30 balls and broke India skipper Rohit Sharma and Colin Munro’s record for the fastest century in T20I cricket. Malla, in his innings, scored an unbeaten 137 runs off just 50 balls with the help of eight fours and a dozen sixes. Meanwhile, Nepal skipper Rohit Paudel scored a half century as he smacked 61 runs off 27 balls with the help of two fours and six sixes.
Magnolia failed to hold nerves in an impossible run chase
Chasing more than 300 targets in just 20 overs, Mangolia lost the plot and didn’t look in the game. They were bundled up for a mere 41 runs in 13.1 overs. Nepal registered a win of 273 runs, which is the highest-ever winning margin in T20I cricket. For Nepal Karan KC, Sandeep Lamichhane and Abinash Bohara took two wickets each, while Sompal Kami, Dipendra Singh, and Kushal Bhurtel clinched a wicket each.
It’s worth noting that India will start their campaign directly from the quarterfinals. They have been placed there for being number 1 in the T20I rankings. The Indian team will be led by young batter Ruturaj Gaikwad, who left the ongoing Australia series to join the squad in China. It’s worth noting that India is performing exceptionally well in the ongoing Asian Games, as they have clinched two golds till now.
