For their next three-match ODI series away against India, Pat Cummins, Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, and Mitchell Starc have made a comeback to Australia’s lineup. Due to injury, all of these players were unable to participate in Australia’s tour of South Africa. They will now work to hone their skills in preparation for the ODI World Cup, which begins on October 5.
A significant event is the addition of Matthew Short to the team in place of Travis Head. After suffering a left-hand fracture during the fourth One-Day International against South Africa at SuperSport Park in Centurion, Head’s World Cup participation is now much in question. Head was a crucial part of the side as he was the first-choice opener along with the veteran David Warner.
In preparation for the 2023 ODI World Cup, Cricket Australia (CA) has revealed the 18-man team that will journey to India for a three-match ODI series. This series will prove a preparation for the two sides ahead of the ODI World Cup in India. Both nations are favourites to lift the crown and would be hoping to be ready for next month’s ODI World Cup.
The first of three one-day internationals (ODIs) between Australia and India will begin on Friday, September 22. The Inderjit Singh Bindra Stadium in Mohali will host the opening game. As Australia prepares to face India, numerous injured players return to the group.
Australia squad for India ODIs:
Pat Cummins ©, Sean Abbott, Alex Carey, Nathan Ellis, David Warner, Adam Zampa, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Josh Inglis, Spencer Johnson, Marnus Labuschagne, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Tanveer Sangha, Matt Short, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis
Australia will look to test out some of their senior players against the world-class line-up of Team India. Australia has been one of the only teams to have a great record in ODIs against India at their home soil. The visiting team has won their past two ODI series in India and another series win would boost their confidence ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023.
