Rinku Singh has been part of the Kolkata-based franchise since 2018. However, he hasn’t got enough opportunities to prove his mettle. In his five-year career, he has got to play only 13 games for the team so far. The left-hander has scored 177 runs in these games. However, during their recent game against Rajasthan in the ongoing Indian T20 League 2022, he played an innings that could possibly take his career to a different height.
In the game against Rajasthan, the Uttar Pradesh player scored an unbeaten 42 off 23 balls including six fours and a six. That innings helped the team break the five-match losing streak in the ongoing Indian T20 League 2022. With this win, they have kept their playoff hopes alive although. Meanwhile, after the game, Singh had a chat with his teammate Nitish Rana. A video released by the Indian T20 League’s Twitter handle showed their conversation.
The 24-year-old revealed that he had a feeling that he would play a match-winning knock, and had written the number 50 on his palm ahead of the game. ‘I was feeling like I would score runs today, be the man of the match and I myself wrote 50 with my own hand.. and made heart,’ Singh revealed.

He added that he has been waiting to do well in the cash-rich league. He finally played his first match-winning innings for the two-time winners.
“I was waiting for a long time to get a Player of the Match. It came after 5 years but it came at last,†the former Uttar Pradesh U19 player added. During the post-match presentation, he said that he has been waiting to get a chance to prove himself as he is the first player from Aligarh to have played in the league.
“A lot of players have played Ranji from Aligarh, but I am the first to play in the ITL. This is a big league and there is a lot of pressure obviously. I have been waiting for the last five years to get a chance,†the middle-order batter said.
