After losing five consecutive games, Kolkata have finally got a win to their name. They beat Rajasthan by seven wickets. Things have now got a little dicey for the Sanju Samson-led side as this is their second consecutive loss. As for Kolkata, this is their fourth victory in 10 matches.
After being asked to bat first, Rajasthan struggled in the powerplay overs. Devdutt Padikkal had to depart rather early. The Rajasthan-based franchise were only able to score 38 runs in the first six overs.
Umesh Yadav was superb as he not only picked a wicket, but also gave just the 24 runs in his full quota of four overs. The pacer has completely redeemed himself in the shortest format of the game, and continued his good form in the 2022 edition. Sunil Narine was also economical as he only gave 19 runs in his four overs. As far as Rajasthan’s batters are concerned, only Sanju Samson was able to convert his start.
Having said that, he too wasn’t at his best as he took 49 balls to score 54. Nevertheless, Shimron Hetmyer delivered an impactful knock and once again, played the role of a finisher to perfection. His 13-ball 27 enabled his side to score 152-5 in the first innings. It was never going to be enough as the pitch wasn’t really a minefield.
During the second innings, Kolkata were poor in the powerplay overs once again. Their openers struggled, and failed to make an impact. The new opening combination didn’t work out. Nevertheless, Shreyas Iyer and Nitish Rana kept calm and pulled the Kolkata-based franchise out of danger. Just when their skipper looked set to get a big score, he was dismissed by Trent Boult for a 32-ball 34. However, Rinku Singh joined Rana in the middle and looked superb.
Both of them ensured that there were no further hiccups for the two-time champions. Rana ended up scoring an unbeaten 48. On the other hand, Singh scored a quickfire 42 from just 23 balls. Thus, they chased their total with five balls to spare. Fans were quick to speak about the game. They took to Twitter to give their views on the same.
Here are some of the Tweets from today’s game:
Really like Rinku Singh. Excellent in the field and showing a calm head in the chase.

Most of the KKR fans (and others too) keep hating on Nitish Rana but he has been their most successful batsman after Russell this season.

That was a good over from Prasidh. 👠If you give wrong wide calls and keep extending a death over, even the best in the world will falter. Plus, he can't go and field for Trent Boult too

152 ,158 & 144 last 3 scores for RR with the bat. They have to find a way to get back to those 180’s and 190’s.Buttler dismissal happening sometime in first over in future matches won’t sit well with them.Hopefully not another season with a good start ending up with disappointment
