The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season was significant for Indian wrist-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who surpassed Dwayne Bravo to become the tournament’s all-time best wicket-taker. In his second year with the Rajasthan Royals (RR), he took 21 wickets. He formerly had a bright career with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) but was abruptly released by the team before the IPL mega auction in 2022.
The club’s abrupt snub of Chahal ahead of the Indian Premier League 2022 mega auction surprised RCB supporters and even Chahal. The shocking action by RCB remains a mystery as to why they let go of one of their most faithful players, who also happens to be the tournament’s and RCB’s greatest wicket-taker. The experienced spinner recently spoke on The Ranveer Show and discussed his abrupt leave from RCB.
I know what I deserve: Yuzvendra Chahal
Host Ranveer Singh stated that it is obvious for supporters to maintain Chahal on their retention list for RCB ahead of the 2022 season, but this did not occur. Here’s what Chahal had to say, “Definitely, I felt terrible because my main journey started in 2014. I felt weird too(about not getting retained) because I played for eight years for them. I even got the India cap because of RCB as they gave me chances to perform when I arrived.”
“In 2014, Virat Bhai displayed trust on me. I started playing from the first match. Then I feel bad because it ends up becoming a family in eight years. People speculated that I asked for an unreasonable amount of money or other things. So, I came clear in a previous interview that I didn’t ask for any money. I know what I deserve.”
Chahal stated that he did not receive any calls from RCB management because the team left him off the retained players list at the IPL 2022 Auction. The 32-year-old spinner stated, “I feel worst about the fact that I did not receive any calls, nor was I told about the auction. I played around 114 matches for RCB, but I received no proper communication from them. They promised me that they’ll go all out for me. I got very angry after that, I played for them for 8 years. Chinnaswamy Stadium is my favorite ground. I didn’t even talk to the RCB coach in their first match against Rajasthan.”

Those clowns trolling Kohli for this should know that Kohli isn't the captain during that mega auction

Yes, RCB should've retained him in the first place but we all know buying him in the Mega-auction was very tough. The spinners lot comes after all-rounder's list and Mike Hesson and RCB didn't want to just rely on him because other franchises could've also bought him.
