Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) might send its security delegation to India to review the security arrangement for ODI World Cup 2023. The team will play its matches in Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad. Most of their games will be played in venues sans Ahmedabad. In the capital city of Gujarat, Pakistan will play India on October 15. The delegation will review as they will report to the PCB and the board will ask for permission to travel to India.
For the unversed, the likes of India and Pakistan teams need special permission from their respective governments. The PCB has given conditional approval, citing the same clause to participate in the ODI World Cup 2023 in India. All these things have reportedly been confirmed by a PCB official to The Times of India.
“The security delegation will go with representation from the PCB to inspect the venues where Pakistan will play and also the security and other arrangements made for them in the World Cup,” he said.
“Before any tour to India it is standard practice for the cricket board to seek permission from the government which normally sends a delegation to India,” the official said.
The delegation will discuss the security arrangements with the stakeholders: PCB official
The official added that the security report will be discussed with fans, players, board officials, and media. Apart from this, the board will also share concerns, if any, with the Indian Cricket Board and Apex Council
“The delegation will interact with the officials there and discuss and inspect with them the security and other arrangements for our players, officials, fans and media, who will go for the tournament,” he said.
“The PCB will share the report with the Apex Council and Indian Cricket Board if the delegation has any concerns,” he added.
The official further reminded about how the India-Pakistan game was shifted from Dharamshala to Kolkata in 2016. For the unversed, the unfortunate attack on Pathankot led to fans demanding the removal of the game from the city.
“It was on the recommendation of the delegation that Pakistan’s match at Dharamsala against India was moved to Kolkata.”
“This is not unusual and it is standard procedure for all tours to India. Even in other sports the respective national federations have to get clearance from the government to send their teams to India for any competition.”

Most likely the Indian security detail would need to pat down the Pakistani players before they get on the field.
