‘Abhi maza aayega na bhidu…’ – Fans react as Cricket Governing Body announce ODI World Cup 2023 schedule

Amid all the discussions as well as speculations which were surrounding the schedule and the venues for the ODI World Cup 2023 have finally come to an end. The schedule as well as venues for the World Cup 2023 have finally been announced. The major tournament will feature a total of 10 teams, the first eight of whom have previously qualified through the Cricket World Cup Super League.

For the ODI World Cup 2023, India will be playing their World Cup matches in Delhi, Chennai, Dharamsala, Kolkata, Pune, and Mumbai. India will be starting their quest for the World Cup against Australia on October 8 in Chennai. On October 15, the eagerly anticipated match between the arch-rivals India and Pakistan will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. In addition to it, India will be taking on the defending champions, England on October 29 at Lucknow.

These three are among the most anticipated matches as the Indian team will be playing against Australia in Chennai which is preferable and offers spin-friendly conditions whereas India playing against England in Lucknow which is also known for providing a condition that is majorly suited for spinners. So, there is no harm in saying that India have made their lives a little bit easier by selecting these venues against two of the major teams who will be entering the tournament with a tag of favourites.

The main tournament will kick start on October 5 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad with a match between the last edition’s finalist, the reigning champions England and the runners-up New Zealand. Also, in addition to it, the first semi-final will be held on Wednesday, November 15 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai whereas the second semi-final will be held on November 16 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. It is to be noted that a reserve day has been slated for each of the semifinal clashes.

The summit clash for the tournament is scheduled to be played on October 19 at the same venue with a reserve day that is also kept for the clash which is November 20.
