England middle-order batter Harry Brook is making his Ashes debut in the upcoming 2023 edition. He has played seven Tests so far and has four centuries so far. Three of them came last December against Pakistan and one against New Zealand. These were the back-to-back hundreds from the right-hander. Even though Brook didn’t have the greatest of IPL seasons with Sunrisers Hyderabad, he is confident of doing well in the series.
The 20-20 World Cup 2022 winner acknowledged the extra pace from his arch-rivals, Australia. However, the Lahore Qalandars player in the PSL added that sometimes, extra pace means the ball can travel to boundary as well
“Obviously they might have a little bit of extra pace, but if they bowl quicker it tends to go to the boundary quicker,” Brook was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
It’s a dream come to be involved in Ashes – Harry Brook
The Yorkshire-born played further added that his Ashes dream is finally coming true. He also mentioned that he watched some of the Aussie players when he was growing up.
“It’s a dream come true to be involved in my first Ashes,” said Brook. “Growing up I was watching some of these players who are still playing, against the best in the world and the best Australians. I’m looking forward to it.”
“I feel like I’m more part of the team now. Obviously as a deputy you don’t quite feel like you’re meant to be there if you know what I mean. So to have been contributing and gain a few match-winning performances this winter has meant the world and I feel a big part of the team now.”
Meanwhile, the Three Lions have announced their playing XI two days ahead of their first game at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
England XI for the first Test: Ben Duckett, Zak Crawley, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (captain), Jonathan Bairstow, Moeen Ali, Stuart Broad, Ollie Robinson, and James Anderson.

He’s confident lad but what I’ve seen in ipl doesn’t match his words. He say big stuff but performance been $hit.. only in PSL and few matches against New Zealand that he scored., pretty average against spin also

It’s the same line Steve Waugh used against Shoaib Akthar years ago

Their approach is the best in this format batsmen trying to defend and getting out most of the times instead play aggressively and fearlessly to win a game
