Over the years, the Barcelona vs Real Madrid encounter used to be marketed as El Classico. The likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo majorly contributed to the cause. The former played for Barcelona for a lot of years and Ronaldo represented Real. After all, they are the two best players in modern-day football. Meanwhile, things haven’t been the same since they have left these teams.
Meanwhile, Spanish Patent and Trademark Office has decided not to allow these teams to use this term. Apparently, their has been a confusion between LaLiga and the two teams over the team. The Trademark Office has observed that the other leagues have also started to use the same term. As per the body, they are concerned about similarities in “symbols” or emblems, as well as the prior brand’s (La Liga) repute, with which the desired trademark “could generate a link in the mind of the consumer.”
Barcelona and Real Madrid to lock horns in Dellas
Since last year, both teams have played each other six games in different tournameny including a pre-season friendly game. In the ongoing season, both teams played each other five times La Liga and Copa del Rey. Three were won by Barcelona while the rest by Madrid.
In the last encounter at the Semifinals of Copa del Rey, Madrid beat Barcelona by 4-0. However, now, both clubs are set to face each other in a friendly game at the Dallas in the US for their American fans. Barcelona FC will be camping in the US for their pre-season preparation in July and will face Madrid on 29th July in Dallas. Last year, the two clubs squared off in front of 64,000 fans at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The Cotton Bowl Stadium has a capacity of 92,101 spectators, so things may be considerably bigger this time.
