IPL 2023 defending champions, Gujarat Titans have decided to spread awareness against cancer while playing the tournament in its normal course. In their next league match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at home, the Titans will don lavender jerseys. This was done by Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals) way back in 2015. Since then, only Rajasthan Royals touched upon cancer awareness but donned Pink Jersey in 2018.
Talking about the GT v SRH clash, it will be played on May 15. This will be the last home game for the Ahmedabad-based side. They are sitting on the top of the points table and would like to remain there till the end of the league stage. On the other hand, the 2016 champions are in the ninth spot with four wins in 10 matches. They somehow managed to keep themselves alive after a last-ball win against Rajasthan Royals.
While the Hardik Pandya-led side would like to remain in the top two, the former champs would like to keep themselves alive for the playoffs. Meanwhile, with the image of GT’s lavender jersey going viral, the fans are divided.

Gujarat Titans lost but won hearts against Mumbai Indians
Meanwhile, the Titans played a reverse fixture against the five-time winners. In the previous game between both teams, Gujarat thrashed MI at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Talking about the game between both teams played on May 12, the visitors, GT won the toss and elected to bowl first. However, their decision proved wrong as the likes of skipper Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan scored 62 runs in the powerplay.
However, Rashid Khan took three wickets between the seventh to ninth over to bring the team back. However, the likes of Suryakumar Yadav and Vishnu Vinod helped the team reach 218/5 with the former scoring his maiden IPL hundred. In reply, the defending champions were in tatters after losing eight wickets for 103 runs. However, the likes of Rashid Khana and Alzarri Joseph added 88 runs for the ninth wicket to ensure that the team doesn’t lose by a long margin. They ended with 191/8, losing the game by 27 runs.
