Rajasthan Royals, playing their 200th match in the Indian Premier League, hosted Chennai Super Kings in the 37th match of the 2023 season. Having previously won against them by a narrow margin of 3 runs, the Royals looked to double up at home. They were able to do that with all of their players doing well in the match.
After winning the toss, Sanju Samson chose to bat first at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, going against convention. This move served them well, as Yashasvi Jaiswal assumed charge of scoring runs for the side. Opening the batting with Jos Buttler, Jaiswal built an 86-run partnership. However, Buttler (27 runs) lost his wicket on the second ball of the eighth over.
After that, it was the complete Jaiswal (77 runs in 43 balls) show as he completed his half-century. He looked comfortable to take on any bowler on a surface that seemed a little slow. He was eventually dismissed by Tushar Deshpande’s slower delivery in the 14th over.
The team then passed the 200-run mark thanks to a special cameo from Devdutt Padikkal and Dhruv Jurel. They scored 27 runs in 13 balls and 34 runs in 15 balls in their innings, respectively. Rajasthan eventually scored 202-5 in their 20 overs.
CSK got a decent start in the chase, with Ruturaj Gaikwad trying to get some quick runs under the belt. He added a 42-run opening partnership with Devon Conway in the powerplay. However, Conway (8 runs in 16 balls) could not get going and lost his wicket on the last ball of the sixth over.
Spinners trouble CSK in the chase
Following that, RR bowlers picked up a few wickets in the middle overs, including Gaikwad (47 runs in 29 balls). In the 11th over, Ravichandran Aswin struck twice, and Adam Zampa removed the dangerous-looking Moeen Ali in the 15th. For a total of 124 runs, half of the CSK team was in the dugout.
For the 6th wicket, Shivam Dube looked good along with Ravindra Jadeja as he scored a decent half-century. The two tried their best, but the RR bowlers proved too good for them. In the end, RR beat CSK by 32 runs as Dube (52 runs in 33 balls) lost his wicket on the last ball.

CSK losing is my source of happiness. I love seeing this team lose. It’s my daily medicine, my weekly energy, my monthly inspiration and my yearly motivation. This team's loss is the only reason I'm still alive. I was born to love and enjoy that, long may it continue….#CSKvsRR
