‘Ee sala cup rehnede’ – Fans brutally troll Bangalore for conceding 223 runs against Delhi in Women’s T20 League game

Bangalore needs to score 224 runs in 20 over against Delhi to ensure a winning start to their Women’s T20 League campaign.

Bangalore concede 223 vs Delhi

The Bangalore franchise has been the most unlucky side in the history of the Indian T20 League. Despite playing in three finals, the side has not been able to win the tournament yet. When the franchise performed well in the players’ auction ahead of the inaugural Women’s T20 League, there were immense expectations from the side. The women’s team was believed to do what the men’s side could never do.

However, their journey in the Women’s T20 League got off to a shaky start after conceding 223 against Delhi in their campaign opener. Delhi’s openers got off to a brilliant start, with skipper Meg Lanning scoring 72 off 43 while her partner Shafali Verma scored 84 off 45. Marizanne Kapp remained unbeaten on 39 off 17, while Jemimah Rodrigues remained unbeaten at 22 off 15 as Delhi reached 223/2 at the end of 20 overs.

Heather Knight took both wickets for Bangalore

For Bangalore, Heather Knight remained the pick of the bowlers claiming both wickets in the game. However, the Bangalore bowlers went for a lot of runs, Knight herself conceded 40 in her three overs. Interestingly, the Bangalore men’s side conceded 222 runs against Kolkata in their first-ever Indian T20 League game.

At the same time, the women’s team conceded 223 runs to Delhi. Fans were quick to react to the uncanny coincidence. However, fans hoped that the two teams’ fortunes are not similar. Given their star-studded line-up, the Bangalore side looks to be among the favourites to win the cash-rich league. They have a steep chase of 224 runs before them to get off to a winning start in the Women’s T20 league’s inaugural edition.

In the first game, Mumbai thrashed Gujarat by 132 runs. Gujarat could only manage 64 runs after conceding 207 runs to Mumbai. Therefore, the game between Bangalore and Delhi is the second consecutive game to see 200+ runs registered on the scoreboard by a team. In Sunday’s doubleheader, Gujarat and UP will be in action from 7:30 PM onwards.

Here’s how fans reacted to Bangalore conceding 223 runs in first match:
