India is all set for the challenge that Australia will put up in the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy. The four-match Test series is all set to go underway from the 9th of February, with the first match being played in Nagpur.
Australia will tour India for a Test series for the first time since 2016-17. The last two editions of the Border Gavaskar Trophy were played in Australia, which India won on both occasions. However, the start of the 2020-21 edition was not the best for India.
The Indian team lost the pink-ball Test in Adelaide in the most humiliating way. India batted first and scored 244 runs before restricting Australia to a score of 191 runs to take a 53-run lead. However, what followed shook everyone.
India was dismissed for a mere score of 36 runs as Pat Cummins (4 wickets) and Josh Hazlewood (5 wickets) ripped apart the Indian batting lineup. The home team then chased down the 90-run target comfortably with eight wickets to spare.
Recalling the match ahead of the upcoming series, an Australian media company posted a video of the highlights from India’s horrifying innings. However, this did not sit well with the Indian fans as they bashed the company saying that what followed next (India’s 2-1 win in the series) was more humiliating for Australia.
“All out for 36 (flushed emoji). The Border-Gavaskar Trophy starts on Thursday!” read the caption of the video

As for the upcoming series, the Indian team is already in Nagpur ahead of the first series. On the other hand, the Pat Cummins-led Australian team is in Bangalore to prepare for the all-important series. Notably, the Kangaroos have not won a Test series in India since. As for India, they have not lost a Border-Gavaskar Trophy since the last three editions.
After Nagpur, the Test action will move to Delhi, followed by the last two matches in Dharmashala and Ahmedabad.
