The Bandra Police have charged cricketer Vinod Kambli with assaulting his wife Andrea while under the influence of alcohol in front of their two children. There have been no arrests in this case as of yet. According to Bandra Police, the FIR was filed after Andrea approached them late Friday night.

According to the police, Andrea stated in her statement that Kambli was drinking liquor in their residence at the JWL Cooperative Housing Society in Bandra Reclamation and became abusive and violent in front of their children.

“The complainant has said that Kambli threw the broken handle of a cooking pan at her, causing injuries to her head. He also tried to hit her with a bat but she managed to wrest it out of his hands, after which she immediately took both her children and left the house,” said an officer with the Bandra police station.

Andrea was then treated at the Bhabha Hospital in Bandra before going to the police station to record her statement and submit a copy of the medical report. “We have booked Kambli for voluntarily causing injuries with a dangerous weapon and intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace under the Indian Penal Code,” said the officer.

“Despite trying to pacify him, he abused me and my son for no reason. He charged at us. After hitting the cooking panhandle, he charged again with a bat. I managed to stop him before leaving with my son, and rushed to the hospital,” Andrea has put on record in the FIR.
