Kieron Pollard has been around the Mumbai set-up in the Indian T20 League for a long time now, and he has become an integral part of the team. The West Indies star was signed by the team more than a decade ago, in 2010. He has been a key player for the team since then, but his performance last year was dismal. Pollard, who was retained by Mumbai for INR 6 crores ahead of the previous season, scored 144 runs for the side last year at an average of 14.40 and a strike rate of 107.46.

Harbhajan Singh now believes that the franchise should release Kieron Pollard ahead of the Indian T20 League auction in 2023. All ten teams will submit their final retention list by November 15, and Harbhajan believes that if Mumbai releases Pollard, it will be a difficult decision for the team.
“Well, I think it’s going to be very difficult for Mumbai Indians to release Kieron Pollard. He’s been there for many years. But yes, there are times when you have to take few tough calls and maybe this is the time. They have to move forward and make a team for the next 4-5 years and try to find someone who can do what Pollard has done over the years,” Harbhajan said.
“Yes, they have Tim David, who can do a similar sort of job and of course, there is another Australian in the auction that is Cameroon Green. I think they will be eyeing him to be part of the Mumbai set-up. Of course, it’s going to be a tough call, but at some stage, you have to take those calls,” he added.
In the meantime, the 10 teams will be seen in action at the Indian T20 League 2023 mini-auction on December 23 in Kochi. Before that, teams have been asked to submit their final retention list of players by Tuesday’s deadline (November 15).
