Many analysts predicted that the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will win the IPL 2023 before it even started. It’s hard to blame them, given that the franchise appeared to have all the tools necessary to compete with the other clubs.
However, it came out to be one of the seasons which they want to forget forever. Only individual performances saw them clinch some wins and have some joys. Therefore, In order to address the problems that have reset their campaign this year, the franchise may consider reassembling their team before IPL 2024.
3 players that SRH can release ahead of IPL Auctions 2024: –
3) Adil Rashid
Adil Rashid is not one of the numerous spinners who has performed in the Indian Premier League on spin-friendly Indian surfaces. He only participated in two games last season and claimed two wickets with an economy of 8. Although Adil Rashid has been an effective spinner for England, he has not performed well in India, as witnessed in the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Owing to his shortcomings, SRH was forced to depend on the uncapped Mayank Markande within the spin section, who performed better. A franchise requires strong spinners in its lineup to be successful in the IPL. Therefore, Adil Rashid may be released by the team.
2) Mayank Agarwal
With a maximum score of 83, Mayank Agarwal could only muster 270 runs in 10 games. His innings of 83 against MI has helped his stats, which would otherwise be appalling. From somebody who cost them INR 8.25 crore, SRH would have anticipated more.
Although his reputation was enhanced by his strong performances in a few seasons, his total results remain unimpressive. He averages 23.02 over 123 games in his IPL career. Agarwal doesn’t seem to be a long-term investment at 32, which may lead the SRH management to let him go.
1) Harry Brook
Harry Brook was brought in by the Sunrisers for a whopping INR 13.25 crore. Their investment in the IPL 2023 hasn’t, however, produced the anticipated returns. He only managed to score 190 runs with a dismal strike-rate of 123.38 in 11 appearances last season. It’s important to remember that he made a century in the match versus the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), that has elevated his stats.
With the exception of that inning, he has only scored 90 runs across 10 innings, which is quite low for an individual of his calibre. Therefore, it shouldn’t be shocking if the Sunrisers choose to let him go. They may even try to reclaim him at auction before the next season, although at a reduced price.
