At the IPL Auction 2024, the Delhi Capitals (DC) are going to attempt to improve their situation following a dismal IPL 2023 season. The Capitals won just five of their fourteen games and finished the previous season ranked ninth. Prior to the 17th Indian Premier League, DC faced a difficult struggle because their present captain’s health and fitness are still unknown. They will have to make tough calls while deciding their retained and released players for the upcoming season.

3) Mustafizur Rahman

Mustafizur Rahman played for the Delhi Capitals during the previous campaign. The team got two games from the Bangladesh pacer. With his economy of 11.28, he was too pricey after taking only one wicket. Later on, the left-arm pacer was removed as well from the starting eleven.

Rahman has also had difficulty in the ODI World Cup 2023 in India. The Delhi Capitals were forced to shake up their bowling lineup during the previous season. This was due to the inability of some of their pacers to perform. Some bowlers may be dropped from the team in IPL 2024 as the franchise looks to get some potent pacers.

2) Manish Pandey

During the Indian Premier League, Manish Pandey has been a batter with a lot of experience. But in the previous season, the batter put on a terrible show and failed multiple times. He averaged 17.78 runs per game across his ten games with the franchise. But he only scored 16 runs after the  nine innings he played.

He was removed from the side due to his poor scores in other matches, with the exception of a 50 in one. He had trouble with his strike rate as well which led to the team performing poorly in the middle overs. The team may decide to bench Manish Pandey in favour of a potent middle-order batsman in order to bolster their batting unit.

1) Prithvi Shaw

Prithvi Shaw produced 479 runs with a strike rate close to 160 and an average of more than 31 in the 2021 edition. But Shaw’s mechanical shortcomings quickly became apparent, particularly when it came to opposing pitches, and in the 2023 IPL, he was only able to muster 106 runs across 8 innings.

Halfway through the tournament, he was also removed from the team. This suggested that the team no longer had faith in Shaw’s ability to produce results. One of the main explanations for his release before the auctions may be his high price.
