The Mumbai batter scored his first-ever double hundred during the second Test in Vizag against England. That one came under pressure against the mighty English bowling attack. The second double hundred came against England as well but this time in Rajkot. His innings proved to be the base to build their massive lead around.

The historic mark for the highest number of double hundreds scored by an Indian batsman in test cricket is currently held by Virat Kohli. It is impressive that he has seven double hundreds throughout his career. 

Nonetheless, Virat has struck two straight double hundreds against Sri Lanka in the 2017 test series. In the Nagpur test, he got 213 runs in the second innings. During the Delhi test, he made 225 runs without being dismissed during the first innings. At that time, he was just the second Indian to achieve this feat.
