Yuzvendra Chahal shares heartfelt post after Joe Root opts out of IPL 2024

Joe Root, the leading batter for England, has decided not to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2024 after speaking with the Rajasthan Royals (RR) management.

After hearing that Root has decided not to play in the Indian Premier League2024, RR spinner Yuzvendra Chahal thanked the former England skipper in an Instagram story. Additionally, he posted an old clip of the two leg-shaking each other from last season.

The players had a close relationship with the Rajasthan-based team in the 2023 Indian Premier League. Chahal took to Instagram to wish his heart-filled gratitude as he wrote, Thanks for everything Joe bhai ???.”

The news that Joe Root was withdrawing from the IPL 2024 arrived before Sunday, November 26, the retention date. Although the mini-auction did not result in his sale, RR acquired him in the expedited round at a base value of ?1 crore.

For most of the season, Root was sitting in the dugout waiting for his chance. He played in just three games and scored a mere ten runs.

Notably, Rajasthan also traded top-order batsman Devdutt Padikkal to the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). In exchange, they also got bowler Avesh Khan, ahead of the upcoming IPL 2024 mini-auction.

“We respect his decision totally” : Kumar Sangakara

The director of cricket at RR, Kumar Sangakkara, has officially declared that Joe Root’s exclusion. He praised the Englishman because of his excellent influence and contribution to the team.

On RR’s official website, Sangakkara has been quoted as declaring regarding Root’s unavailability. Sangakara said, “During our retention conversations, Joe informed us of his decision to not take part in IPL 2024. Even in a short span of time, Joe was able to create such a positive impact on the franchise and the players around him. His energy around the group and the experience he brought to the Royals will be missed. We respect his decision totally and wish him success in everything he does.”
