‘Youngsters ko dedo na bhai chance’ – Fans react to Cheteshwar Pujara claiming that he might play for Team India in Tests again
Cheteshwar Pujara is currently playing for Sussex in the Royal One-Day Cup where he has smashed two centuries in four innings
After notching up an important century for Sussex versus Somerset during the Royal One-day Cup, India batsman Cheteshwar Pujara stated that he is still considered for the Test setup. In the most recent Test against West Indies, Pujara was left out of India’s lineup.
Speaking on Sussex’s Youtube account, Pujara insisted that if he contributed runs in first-class matches, he would be reinstated in the Indian Test system. Pujara overcame Somerset by scoring 117 runs from 113 balls and smashing 11 boundaries.
The veteran batter said, “Yeah, it’s nice to score runs. Look, I always try and control the things which I can and it is always about getting as many runs as possible in whatever games I play. I am still in the scheme of things (for India), so I hope that the moment I start scoring runs in first-class games, I’ll be back into the team, but I’ll just try and be in the present, try and take one game at a time.”
“I’ll try and focus on the next few games”: Cheteshwar Pujara
The next Test series for India will begin in December, he continued, so there is still time for him to make the team. After struggling against Australia during the 2023 World Test Championship Final in London, Pujara was benched.
The Saurashtra batter said that “We are not going to play any more Test matches in the next two-three months’ time. The next Test series is in South Africa in December so there is a long way to go, but I will try and focus on the next few games and then try and move into the Championships because we have a few important Championships games coming up in September. We have a chance to qualify and that’s the prime focus for us.”
On August 13, following their victory against Somerset, Sussex will play Glamorgan in their upcoming match in the Royal One Day Cup.

Pujara will remain in the scheme of things whenever there is a tough tour, and so far they don't have anyone who can hold one end on tough pitches.
They have many aggressors in tests, but no anchor like him.

What's the point. When our country needed you the most to play well in english conditions you flopped big time.
