The Indian cricket team’s selection for the first two Tests of the upcoming series against Australia has caused controversy with the omission of young player Sarfaraz Khan. Despite his impressive performance in domestic competitions over the past three seasons, he has not been given the opportunity to play for the national team.

Fans and experts are puzzled by the decision and Sarfaraz himself is questioning what more he can do to earn a spot. In response to the snub, he posted a reminder of his statistics on Instagram, which are comparable to those of the legendary player Don Bradman. Despite consistent success in the red-ball format, Sarfaraz has yet to be selected for the Indian team.

After the Team India snub, Khan posted two stories around his exclusion wherein he compared First Class stats to arguably the greatest player ever, Don Bradman. The image compared the runs of the players along with their batting average. Bradman had an average of 95.17 on his way to 28,067 runs. Khan came in second on the list with 3380 runs at an average of 80.47. Vijay Merchant with 13, 470 runs and an average of 71.84 came in third.

In another Instagram story, he shared his stats for Mumbai in First class cricket. In 30 innings the right-hand batter made 2436 runs at an average of 110.73 with 6 fifties and 9 hundreds and a highest of 301*.

On Saturday, the former India cricketer Aakash Chopra also lashed out at the selectors questioning their reason for excluding Sarfaraz and including Suryakumar Yadav.

“Sarfaraz’s name is still not there. He feels he got cheated because his name should probably have come. Bumrah is still not there. That’s another news but I am more concerned that Sarfaraz is not there,” said Aakash on his YouTube channel.

“When you picked Surya, it means a slot had opened up. In my opinion, Sarfaraz should have gotten that chance because Sarfaraz’s first-class average is 80. Apart from him, only Don Bradman has an average of 80 or more in the number of matches he has played,” Aakash added.
