Former India skipper Virat Kohli has finally ended his century-less streak in the ongoing fourth Test against Australia. Since November 2019, he was yet to score a Test century. His last century came against Bangladesh in India’s maiden pink-ball Test. Since then, a lot has happened in his cricketing career. At the time, he was the captain of the team across formats.

Now, he has given up Test and T20I captaincy from September 2021 to February 2022 period. Also, he was removed from the ODI captaincy in late 2021. During this phase, he had only six half-centuries to his name with four coming in 2021. His last fifty came in early last year during the tour of South Africa. Since then, he was missing a 50-plus score in the longest format of the game.

Now, the right-hander has finally ended his century in Test cricket. A few months back, he hit his maiden T20I hundred to end the century across all forms of the game. In December last year, he scored his first ODI hundred after August 2019. Since then, he has added two more hundreds to his name and is only four away from breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s 49 ODI hundreds record.

Virat Kohli’s 183 helped India reach 571 in reply to Australia’s 480

Meanwhile, in the ongoing game, the Kangaroos won the toss and batted first. Thanks to Usman Khawaja and Cameron Green’s hundreds, the team reached 480 all-out. In reply, India had a great start as Shubman Gill hit the second century of his Test career. When he got out, the home team needed at least one or two players to score big for the team to take a good lead

Virat scored 183 and was the last wicket to fall. On the other hand, Axar Patel scored 74 runs. Both put together 162 runs in just 215 balls to help the team take the lead of 91 runs in the game. At this point, the Aussies have scored three runs with Travis Head and Matthew Kunhemann batting at the crease.
