Australia tour of Pakistan

‘You have to be ready for everything’ – Marnus Labuschagne details on preparation ahead of historic Pakistan series

Australia batter Marnus Labuschagne is gearing up for his first ever tour of Pakistan. In fact, this is the first time since 1998 that an Australian national team has traveled to the South Asian country. The team will play three Tests followed by as many ODIs and one T20I.

Labuschagne made his Test debut against the same opposition in the United Arab Emirates where he was struggling against spin. Since then, the right-hander has made his mark in international cricket. With expectations of getting a trial against spin in front of the home side, he was seen practicing on a mat where a lot of spots were heavily tapped.

Meanwhile, the 27-year-old said that the team will prepare itself for every situation. He added that there could be times where Pakistan pacers can bowl short after assessing the wicket.

“Obviously, I know Hasan Ali and Shaheen Afridi are their two sort of main fast bowlers and then we’ll have to see who’s going to go with those two. Like you said, you have to prepare for everything. There’ll be times in the game when they will bowl short based on the wicket. It’s about coming to terms with that,” Labschange said in an interview with Cricbuzz.

The Queensland-born also spoke about his battle with Mark Wood, who bowled his heart during the Ashes in January.

“The wickets we played on during this summer had a bit of seam movement in them as well. Add then Mark Wood who bowls at 150. You just got to keep getting better and I certainly got away from that series and worked on a few technical things to make sure that I’ve got them down pat if teams start going down that path,” the right-hander added.
