The news that India’s middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer would miss the country’s final Test matches against England is a significant one. The 29-year-old, who was struggling with back issues, will not be able to play because of stiff back and groyne ache. Iyer’s absence might hurt India for the whole of the series as the Indian Cricket Board has not yet announced the Test team for the final three games.

According to Indian Express, the batter from Mumbai is receiving better rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. The Indian No. 5 is anticipated to miss the final three Test matches. But he will be ready to lead the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the forthcoming IPL 2024.  

The Indian team is currently dealing with an abundance of injuries and absences. KL Rahul and Ravindra did not play during the Visakhapatnam Test. Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami, who sustained an injury during the World Cup, might be seen in the IPL 2024 next. 

Virat Kohli, the former captain of India, withdrew from the initial games for personal reasons. Although there has been no official declaration regarding his comeback. It is known that Sarfaraz Khan and Rajat Patidar would continue to be in the Indian squad in the current series provided Shreyas Iyer and Virat Kohli are not there.

India’s team for the next three Test matches against England was supposed to be announced on Thursday. But since that did not happen, it is unclear when it will. A report claims that because certain important staff members were absent, and therefore the selection meeting was moved to Friday.

Now, the virtual meeting is anticipated on Friday to make a final decision that would mostly include pacer Jasprit Bumrah. The selection meeting may also be attended by India’s skipper Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid. The hosts are attempting to win the five-match series, which is tied 1-1 after two games.
