‘Ye toh world class stadium hoga’ – Fans react as major updates get revealed about new stadium in Varanasi

In terms of its overall population as well as cricket following, Uttar Pradesh leads all other Indian states. The Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow and the renowned Green Park Stadium in Kanpur are two renowned cricket venues in the state. In addition, a brand-new cricket stadium will soon be opening in Varanasi. With its unique design, the Varanasi stadium now under development is breaking the mould. The entry gate is similar to Belpatra (Bael leaves), the seating is arranged to resemble the spiral staircase of the Ganga Ghat, and the dome is formed similar to a Trishul (trident), based on a Jagran News report.

Numerous cricket venues are located all around the country since India is a cricket fanatic country. On September 23, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be laying the cornerstone for the modern international cricket stadium located in the Ganjari Area of Varanasi, adding yet another stadium to the nation’s extensive list.  The stadium, will have a capacity about 30,000 and might possess contemporary facilities, that will cost roughly INR 450 crore.

The Indian Cricket Board along with the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) will jointly conduct the foundation stone laying ceremony. Some star cricketers will be attending the event and it is expected to be a momentous occasion. Times of India quoted Kaushal Raj, the divisional commissioner of the project, “Preparations at Ganjari are being started for the proposed visit of the Prime Minister to lay the foundation stone of the cricket stadium on September 23. It will be a grand show as apart from BCCI office-bearers, star cricketers are also likely to take part in the ceremony.”

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) , and the project’s finished plans. The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) will proceed by approving the proposal and obtaining no-objection certifications from many departments, including ground water and forestry.
